All about low stimulation

In recent years, it has become quite common to come across advertisements offering active holidays. Above all, you need to gain a lot of impressions, feel a lot of excitement and be constantly challenged. It is aimed at the extrovert and there is nothing wrong with that, but we know that there is still a large group of people who don't really need all that hustle and bustle. Who are much more in need of a holiday without the craziness and with a place to retreat to. Who just want to escape all the excitement of life. It is precisely for this reason that we have set up the Low Stimulation label, so that you know you are in the right place if you would like to retreat in peace and quiet.

What is low-stimulation?

In everyday life, we all receive information through our senses. These are stimuli. Our brains have to process this information and this takes energy. For some, it goes a bit easier and faster than for others, and it can be quite tiring. People who can't process so many stimuli quickly can develop discomfort, which is why not everyone needs a large amount of stimuli at once. By low stimulation, we therefore mean an environment or activity where less information is fired at our brains at once.

Low stimulation is not boring

To get rid of a preconception right away; low stimulation doesn't mean a boring holiday where you spend all your time on a mountain pasture with no other people around. Low stimulation can be designed in many different ways. Moreover, not everyone experiences stimuli in the same way. Some need complete peace and quiet, while others may find the sound of a murmuring stream and cow bells in the distance soothing.

At Bergundbahn, we try to find something for everyone. We ourselves do not like constant challenges, lots of adrenaline and crowds around us either. We like a bit of balance and afterwards a nice place to retreat to. A holiday to recharge from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

With our own experience and that of others around us, we write articles and have tips for other travellers who also like low stimulation holidays.

In short, low stimulation is not boring, but takes into account those who are more sensitive and can enjoy the less spectacular things life has to offer.
