A holiday in less touristy areas

A holiday in less touristy areas – Low Stimulation – Bergundbahn.com

You can find little gems everywhere in the Alps

A beautiful or special area attracts many tourists. The areas will adapt to this: more hotels, more restaurants, more shops and more activities are organised. This is advertised, which results in even more people coming. Does this automatically mean that the lesser-known areas have less to offer? No, certainly not! These places have sometimes not yet been discovered by the many tourists, or they are deliberately kept quiet, to avoid mass tourism. It is precisely in the quieter areas that you can find gems, where you can enjoy with low stimulation.

Well-known places and sights

Great natural wonders and sights are difficult to keep quiet. You will find many tourists in these places, such as in the Zillertal, in Austria, in Chamonix, at Mont Blanc, in France or for example in Zermatt, at the Matterhorn, in Switzerland. Although such places are certainly worth visiting, they are not very low-stimulation.

Smaller villages and regions

The Alps are full of beautiful and special areas and you can make it as stimulation-free as you want. Especially the smaller villages and areas outside give you more chance of peace. Take Auffach, for example, in Austria, where it is still relatively quiet during the holiday periods. There are several cable cars in the area and hidden gems, such as a waterfall. The small village of Obsteig, in Austria also has a beautiful, small waterfall and beautiful hiking trails. And if you look just a little outside a village, you can even find guesthouses or apartments in remote places.

Near tourist attractions

Do you want to be as close to the hustle and bustle as possible, but not in the middle of it? Then look for villages nearby or try to find accommodation on the edge of the busy area. This way you have the pleasures of the hustle and bustle, but at the same time a place to retreat to at the end of the day.

Pros and cons of a non-touristy place

Keep in mind that there are pros and cons to quieter places. It is often quieter in nature, but there are fewer spectacular sights. It is not as busy in shops and restaurants, but there are often fewer of them. There is less traffic, but public transport is usually not as extensive and you often have to take smaller roads to get there. In the latter case, pay special attention before you book an accommodation, because route planners, such as Google Maps, can sometimes distort the image. The house then turns out to be higher up and more difficult to reach than it initially seems.

Where you settle depends of course on your needs, but if you don't need so much spectacle, a spot outside the tourist areas is recommended. Wherever you go, almost every place in the Alps has something beautiful to offer.
