Nebelhornbahn Oberstdorf

In summer 2021, the new Nebelhornbahn in Oberstdorf replaced the old cable car. After more than 90 years of faithful service, the commuter cable car was replaced by a circulation cableway consisting of 10-seater cabins.
Of course, the Nebelhornbahn in Oberstdorf has been modified or completely renewed several times over the years. In 1977, the previous cable car was installed, which was over 40 years ago.

Features Nebelhornbahn 2021

The new Nebelhornbahn was built by cable car manufacturer Leitner. The cable car is a so-called zweiseilumlaufbahn. In other words, a circulation cableway using 2 cables; a carrying cable and a traction cable. The advantage of the new Nebelhornbahn is that you no longer have to change at the middle station Seealpe. Of course, you can still get off here if you want to visit the Seealpe. In addition, the cable car has been built barrier-free, allowing people in wheelchairs to easily enter and exit the cabins.

The Nebelhornbahn

The conversion work had started in September 2019 and the project was completed by summer 2021. It used to be the longest passenger cable car in the world. Today, it can be called the tallest cable car in the Allgäu. From the Nebelhorn, you have stunning views. You can enjoy delicious food, take beautiful walks and for the experienced climbers there is a via ferrata.
