If you ask me, Lake Bohinj is the most beautiful mountain lake I have seen so far. Crystal clear, azure blue and it has a pleasant swimming temperature in the summer. But there is more to do in the area. For example, you can go up the Vogel (name of the mountain) with the Vogel cable car. At the top of the mountain you can take beautiful hiking trails or even further by chairlift and enjoy culinary delights.

How do you get to the Vogel Cable Car?

The Vogel Cable Car is located at the head of the Bohinj Valley in Slovenia's Triglav National Park. You can walk to the valley station of the cable car via a hiking trail that leads you along the northern or southern shores of Lake Bohinj. Are you having trouble walking? Then you can also get there easily by car and park for free in front of the door. Another option is to take a boat across Slovenia's most beautiful lake. With a gondola you will be at an altitude of more than 1,500 meters above sea level within 4 minutes.

On top of the Vogel, there is something to do every season. Hiking in summer or skiing on natural snow in winter. But the fantastic views are present in every season. In clear weather, you can see the Triglav and sometimes even see as far as the Mediterranean. A 10-minute walk from the top station, there is a chairlift that takes you even further up the mountain. Don't feel like doing that? Then there is a relatively easy hiking tour of about half an hour at the mountain station of the Vogel Cable Car. Work up an appetite or thirst after the hike? Then you can choose from 2 restaurants near the mountain station.
