Recipe Marillenknödel (Apricot dumpling)

Recipe Marillenknödel

Tasty sweet dumpling

The Marillenknödel is a real Austrian delicacy. This flour product is made from dough balls that you use to make dumplings and contain an apricot. You eat the Marillenknödel with powdered sugar.

Preparation time: 30 minutes 4 servings

Ingredients for Marillenknödel

  • 8 apricots
  • 75 grams of butter
  • 1.5 Kaiser rolls that you need to crumble
  • Powdered sugar
  • Cinnamon

Supplies needed for the dough

  • 250 grams of cottage cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 60 grams of butter
  • 125 grams of flour
  • Salty

Steps

  1. Mix the cottage cheese with the egg, 60 grams of butter, flour and some salt. Divide the resulting dough into approximately 8 to 10 equal portions. This dough must now rest for about 20 minutes.
  2. In the meantime, put on a large pan of water
  3. Sprinkle some flour on your hands and flatten the 8 to 10 portions into round disks. Then place the apricots in the middle and wrap the dough around the apricot so that it becomes a real dumpling. Make sure that the apricot is properly enclosed and that there are no openings.
  4. Then carefully place the dumplings in the boiling water and let them cook for 10 minutes until the dumplings are done and float to the surface.
  5. Melt some butter in a frying pan and fry the breadcrumbs mixed with some cinnamon.
  6. When the dumplings are ready, quickly roll them in the fried breadcrumbs.
  7. Sprinkle icing sugar over the Marillenknödel and enjoy.
