Hiking socks
When we think of hiking, we often think of good footwear, rain gear or a comfortable backpack, but at least as important is wearing the right hiking socks. Anyone who has ever been on the road with ill-fitting socks will immediately agree. Nothing is more painful than a hard seam pressing into your toe all the time, socks getting damp or sagging.
All these things are the cause of a high risk of blisters and irritation, and as a result, the enjoyment of a nice walk can be quite destroyed. So stop letting those socks be the stepchild of your gear, buy them with care and pay close attention to the following points:
- no terry cloth or cotton, but socks made of high-quality technical materials that do not absorb perspiration but pass it on;
- flat seams so there is no irritation
- zones around the toes and heel that prevent pressure spots and friction;
- good fit;
- difference between men's and women's socks;
- thicker at the bottom for optimal shock absorption.
Good hiking boots are often expensive. It would be a shame if the comfort of those shoes were undermined because you cut back on socks. If your feet feel good, you can fully enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
