Thermal underwear on winter sports

My grandfather used to wear long underwear and a short-sleeved shirt during the cold months of the year. I could see those sleeves through his blouse as a small child, and sometimes discovered a white fringe peeking out from under his neat pleated trousers. So I associated the long pants with old people, but that has changed these days. In fact, there is thermal underwear and it is ideal for winter sports.

Some people think they can do without them because when you are skiing or snowboarding, you start to perspire and it gets cold again very quickly. But that is exactly when the big advantage of thermal underwear comes to light: with such a T-shirt, the clammy back is a thing of the past. Thanks to the special polyester fibre, moisture is wicked away to the underlying layer. In a very cold area, it is recommended to also wear long thermal trousers under skiwear. This way, your muscles won't get stiff.

Wintersport

During winter sports, you can suffice with one set that you simply put through a lather after your activities and is already dry in the morning. Good thermal underwear does not even absorb odours, in which case you can wear it for several days in a row. There are different brands and price ranges. You can think of Icebraker, Odlo and Craft, but nowadays Decathlon, Aldi, Lidl and the like also have it in their range.

The difference in price can be considerable, but quality comes at a price. If you go on a single winter sports trip or not more than once a year, the bargain sets will suffice, but if you are an avid skier, a better brand is recommended. Moreover, this underwear is not only for winter sports. Even in your own country, the winters can be quite cold. If you are hiking, cycling or running, this underwear is almost indispensable.

So grandpa's underwear is back, but greatly improved!
