Hochpustertal

Hochpustertal with Toblach and the 3 Zinnen in Italy's Dolomites - Bergundbahn.com

Hochpustertal

The Hochpustertal valley between Lienz in Austria, Bruneck and Cortina d'Ampezzo lies in the north of Italy. You'll find the landmark of the Dolomites here, the 'Tre Cime de Lavaredo' or the Drei Zinnen. Amazing rock formations that protrude above everything.

Toblach / Dobbiaco

The most important place in the Hochpustertal Valley is Toblach. Toblach is known as the gateway to the Dolomites. Next to the village is Lake Toblach, a beautiful mountain lake in which many trout live. Toblach is further known for the fact that the famous composer Gustav Mahler wrote several pieces of music here in his own cottage. The village is visited by many tourists for its many hiking opportunities and convenient location.

Climbing

Not far from Toblach, in the Fischlein valley, are the 3 Zinnen. Large rock towers perfect for climbing enthusiasts. The Pustertal Valley is great for climbers in the first place. There are several climbing routes possible on and around the 3 Zinnen. Ideal for sport climbers is the climbing paradise Landro am Durrensee near Toblach. Here they have as many as 50 routes from 3+ to 9.

Hiking tip

If you want a nice hike, try the route from the Pragser Wildsee (1494 metres) to the Seekofel (2810 metres). You go along the shores of the lake to the starting point of the trip, uphill. Via the Nabige Loch at 2034 metres you walk to the Ofenscharte. From here, you go to the Seekofel hut at 2327 metres. Up to here, the route is simple to walk. If you are not an experienced hiker or suffer from vertigo, stop here. The route then continues via a steep rock face which is partly secured. At the top you have a fantastic view of the Sexterner Dolomites. You can do this route in about 7 hours.
